My name is Camille you’re listening to Cosmic Dynamics, 5 minutes of exploration on art, change & the music of the universe.
First of all, tomorrow for the weekly live mix we are receiving Photographer Chris Jordan. He is an American artist, photographer and film producer. You must have seen some of the iconic shots he brought to the environmental sphere, the documentary films Albatross, or Midway, I will link references in the notes. We had a very powerful and necessary conversation about the responsibility of activism and the environmental movement, to completely change their approach of storytelling and communications. Because it’s not working. That’s where the adult conversation comes into the picture. Adult because our approach to communications on change is obviously in its infancy.
That was Chris Jordan at TEDxSeattle, earlier this year. The power of beauty, that’s what it will be about tomorrow on Cosmic, with Chris Jordan, and a good share of Herbie Hancock who - like all prolific artists who immerse us in beauty - is probably a lot closer to the answer than the field of social & environmental activism in its previous attempts to mobilize via fear, guilt, and terror communications. Thank you for daring to take that step with us, it’s not an easy topic... because it touches on identity, and relentless work we might have done thinking it was the right approach,,, so here comes the one condition I was talking about: let’s enter that conversation with honesty, without guilt, without shame, with our whole mind intelligence, our ego in check, saying things as they are, but looking forward at what needs to happen from now on. We need to have that conversation. It’s about culture, about the narratives that create constructive change, it’s about storytelling, it’s about the future.
